WHAT IS IPL OR INTENSED PULSED LIGHT?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), is the harnessing of energy from a xenon flash lamp and using focusing optics to channel the energy. It includes the spectrum of light from 400 to 1400 nm for common medical applications. It is not a narrow spectrum of light like a laser but a broad spectrum of light. Other names used include Variable Pulsed Light (VPL), Controlled Pulsed Light (CPL), Intense Flash Light (IFL), and Broad Band Light (BBL). IPL technology is typically employed in the treatment of medical disorders of the skin including sun damage induced pigmentation and vascular changes; poikiloderma; acne Rosacea; broken capillaries; vascular and pigmented birth marks.
