What is involved in the process of filing a bankruptcy petition?
Under the current bankruptcy law, Debtors are required to collect and provide many documents for review by the bankruptcy trustee and by the court. For example, you must bring us six months of pay stubs (“pay advises,” if you have an automatic deposit of your wages), tax returns for 2007 and 2008, and documentation for all sums of money you have received during the past six months (including wages, social security, unemployment, loan from a 401(k), gifts from parents, and so forth). You must complete a credit counseling session that will take approximately one hour before you can file. We will provide you with a “Package” that includes a checklist of necessary documents, forms that you must fill in before filing and a sheet showing how to get the necessary counseling requirements completed.
