What is involved in the Coquina Coast Project?
The Coquina Coast Seawater Desalination Project is investigating the feasibility of a seawater desalination plant to be located in St. Johns, Flagler or Volusia County. Phase 1 of the Coquina Coast Seawater Desalination Project involves evaluating whether a possible future desalination plant would be better based on a ship offshore, on land, or a combination of both. The goal of the project is to determine the most feasible, cost-effective and environmentally sound approach to desalination for the project participants. Phase 2 of the project includes further testing, additional environmental assessments and preliminary design of the selected option.
