WHAT IS INVOLVED IN LAUNCHING A STALLION INTO A SUCCESSFUL STUD CAREER?
Your three year old colt has just finished his 2009 show season and he did quite well. He is well bred and thoughts of making the “big bucks” standing him at stud begin to enter your mind. The big question is “does he have what it takes to be as successful in the breeding shed as he was in the show pen?” The other big question is “are you willing to give him the same level of support that it took to make him a successful show horse so that he has the chance to become a successful sire?” I’ll attempt to answer question number one first and in doing so I will assume your champion colt has very good conformation and no known physical defects that can be passed on to his offspring. The next thing that needs to be determined is his degree of fertility.
