WHAT IS INVOLVED IN EYELID SURGERY?
Excess skin and fat on upper and lower eyelids are removed with blepharoplasty. Dr. Badame makes very fine incisions from the inner to the outer edges of the eyelid following the natural creases of your eyes. The upper eyelid incision is made in the natural fold of the lid. On the lower eyelid, the incision is made either directly below the eyelash or more commonly, on the inner side of the lid to completely hide the scar. Excess fat and skin are then removed from the underlying compartments. The procedure takes from two to three hours, depending on the extent of the surgery. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HEAL? Antibiotics may be continued for several days following blepharoplasty. Sutures are removed within a week. Some swelling and bruising occur but will subside in a few days. Women may be allowed to use eye makeup ten days to two weeks after surgery. Strenuous exercise should be avoided several days following surgery. ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS TO EYELID SURGERY?
