What is involved in being tested for TB?
A TB test consists of injecting a small amount of solution under the skin on the arm and then returning to the doctor’s office for a second visit in 2 to 3 days to have the test read. The nurse will also ask a series of questions concerning the patient’s risk factors for tuberculosis. If the test is read as positive for TB infection, the nurse will ask for additional information and may recommend a chest x-ray to rule out TB disease. All test results are confidential.
