What is inventory and how does it relate to my Study Region?
Inventory are also known as “assets” or “exposure”. HAZUS-MH provides a default set of inventory as a representation of a Study Region’s assets or exposure. Typical inventory categories include buildings and infrastructure. Inventory that intersects an area defined by a hazard is considered vulnerable. Inventory that is vulnerable can have a risk assessment performed in order to quantify specific risk factors — this is what HAZUS does. When you create a Study Region, HAZUS extracts only the inventory defined by that Study Region from the State Data you copied from the DVD onto your hard drive.
