What is “internal” and “external” e-mail information used in the analysis?
“Internal e-mail information” and “external e-mail information” are both used in the scanning and analysis process, according to the patent (paragraphs 51-80). Internal e-mail information is the actual data contained within an e-mail message where as external e-mail information is data derived from the internal information using Gmail’s analysis algorithms (e.g. by looking at the IP of the sender and/or the timezone in the timestamp, the geographic location can be determined).
