What is Interlibrary Loan?
The library provides Interlibrary Loan (also called “ILL”) service to obtain material (books, dissertations, magazine and journal articles) that we don’t own. We generally get the material from other libraries, although occasionally we purchase items that are not available for loan by any library. Please note that most libraries will not lend videos or DVDs. Before submitting an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request, check the library catalog (WebCat) and the Journals List for books and journals already in the library.
The Bemidji State University Library provides an interlibrary loan service for obtaining materials from other libraries for use by BSU students, faculty, and staff. The interlibrary loan staff are committed to the efficient processing of your requests in order to obtain the items you need within a useful time frame.
Interlibrary Loan is a service that allows library patrons to borrow materials from another library. The library staff may be able to locate materials from other libraries statewide, nationally, or internationally. The service is reserved for materials that are in support of research and instructional needs.
No library can have all the materials to meet all its patrons needs. Through the interlibrary loan program (ILL) the library is able to ask another library to lend us materials for our patrons to checkout. Likewise, the LeRoy Collins Leon County Public Library System lends its materials to other libraries for their patrons.
