What is Intel currently doing in the wireless standard space?
A. We are involved in a number of wireless standards efforts. For example, we’ve been major contributors to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), actively participating in a number of the working groups developing different mobility related standards. We are very active in the IEEE wireless LAN 802.11 working groups and the Wi-Fi Alliance*. We are becoming increasingly involved with the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) and its various working groups, especially the Terminal and Services and Aspects (SA) groups. We are also actively involved in the Java Community Process (JCP) and are working with the Java community in relation to managed execution environments. In the GSM Association, Intel representatives hold positions as deputy Chairman of the Mobile Services and chair of the Testing SWG. We have also been involved in a number of other initiatives such as the Bluetooth SIG, which we helped form, and various other home networking SIGs such as Universal Plug and Play
