What is Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.)?
Integrated Pest Management is a farming method that is not organic, but which uses far less harmful pesticides than conventional growing practices. I.P.M. involves an interconnected set of methods for managing pests — including pest prevention, pest monitoring, biological controls, pest attractants and repellents, biopesticides and pesticides. Many New York City C.S.A. groups include I.P.M. apples, pears and corn in their shares, since these crops are especially difficult to grow organically in our region while providing the high level of quality members appreciate.
