What is Instant Result First Trimester Screening?
By mailing a blood sample obtained by pricking your finger to NTD Laboratories about a week before your scheduled first trimester ultrasound, we can provide you with your First Trimester Screening result moments after your ultrasound is completed. This will most likely provide you with reassurance that your pregnancy is a low risk for Down syndrome and Trisomy 18. If your pregnancy is found to be high risk, you will be offered same day genetic counseling and, in most cases, same day definitive prenatal testing. Capital Health is one of the few centers with chorionic villus sampling (CVS) performed on a frequent basis, thus allowing you easy access to first trimester definitive chromosome testing.
