What is Indigenous Peoples Day in the US?
Some may think it is a coincidence Indigenous People’s Day is celebrated on the same day as Columbus Day. The decision to have the holidays on the second Monday of October is no coincidence. Instead of revering a man who many feel committed one of the worst acts of genocide, people would prefer to celebrate the history of the Indigenous groups that lived in the Americas before they were discovered.
