What is included in the total project costs? What controls are in place to ensure the District doesnt go over budget?
The total $45.6 million project cost includes all new construction, renovations, upgrades, demolition, site work, furniture, fixtures, equipment, permits, design/construction contingencies, and professional fees. Once voters approve a specific referendum amount, the District cannot legally borrow and spend more than this amount to pay for the proposed projects. It is important to note that if the referendum is not approved on April 1, 2008, and the project is delayed, the estimated cost of the project will increase at the normal inflation rate of five to seven percent per year.
