What is included in the pre-adoption assessment?
A meeting (in person or by phone) up to 30 minutes in length, a written report of 1 to 2 pages in length, and appropriate growth charts are included. Additional information will be analyzed as it is received, up to the time of adoption. (This is particularly important for families adopting from Guatemala, but pertains to all countries.) Evaluations represent a professional opinion based upon very limited information. The accuracy of the information itself is often in question. For these reasons, the reviewer cannot make a definitive diagnosis or predict a specific long-term outcome for a child. In addition, the reviewer will not be held responsible for any decisions or the results of a decision made as a consequence of the evaluation. 4.
