What is included in Question #2?
Question #2 provides ongoing support ($2,427,000 more per year) to offset the additional operating costs associated with expanding and renovating Indian Trail Academy into a third boundary high school with academies. Reoccurring costs include faculty and staff, academic programs and services, materials, equipment, and utilities. KUSD has never raised this tax rate to support increased operations, despite steady enrollment growth since the early 1990’s. The District has maintained this rate in the past by closing and/or consolidating smaller schools and streamlining administrative costs. If both Question #1 and Question #2 are approved, taxpayers will experience a net average tax increase of approximately $0.11 per $1,000 of assessed property value. For a home assessed at $200,000, the cost to operate a third boundary high school would be approximately $22 more per year. If approved, the tax increase would begin with the 2010-2011 school year.
