What is Inattention?
Inattention can be defined as having concentration difficulties or the inability to follow through on instructions. This may not seem like a concern if your inattentive pet is a docile house cat, however, inattention can become a problem if your inattentive pet is a show dog or a puppy in need of training. Inattention can result in frequent mistakes on show day as your well trained dog is suddenly distracted by all the sights and sounds of the show. As a pet owner, it can be very disheartening when you and your pet have put in so much time and effort for the big day, and when it finally arrives, your star dog suddenly can’t concentrate and doesn’t seem to be listening to any of your commands. Inattention is also difficult for pet owners trying to train and socialize young dogs. It often means that you have to put in twice the effort and if your dog is inattentive then chances are that they won’t remember what was being taught in the first place.
