What is INAC doing to manage the renewable resources and environment of the Northwest Territories?
In the NWT, INAC manages the delivery of environmental programs, implements environmental management measures and operates an environmental laboratory. INAC is also responsible for water resources onshore and offshore in the NWT, maintains a water quality network and conducts a number of water studies. INAC NT Region ensures that the requirements of the federal Canadian Environmental Assessment Act , the Canadian Environmental Protection Act , the Northwest Territories Waters Act and Regulations , and the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act , are fulfilled by INAC in the NWT. As well, they provide expert advice to the NWT Water Board and boards established pursuant to the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act , and the Inuvialuit Final Agreement .
