IAPT is a new government programme to improve access to talking therapies. Talking therapy can be used as an alternative or in addition to your medication, which your GP might provide for mild to moderate mental health problems. IAPT was developed as a model to deliver National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended treatments and therapies. Our key aims are to: • Offer improved and timely access to treatment • Help those with mild to moderate depression and anxiety to retain employment, return to work or other meaningful activity • Help people access other appropriate services • Include a reduction in symptoms/relief of symptoms for those suffering with anxiety/depression, in order for them to retain employment What’s happening in Norfolk and Waveney?
