What is Implantation Bleeding During Pregnancy?
When the egg gets fertilized, it travels through the fallopian tube and reaches the uterus. The embryo starts pushing and tries to attach itself with the wall of uterus. In this process the lining of the uterus ruptures which results in bleeding. This whole process of embryo attaching to the uterus is known as implantation and the bleeding observed is known as implantation bleeding or implantation spotting. The bleeding is very less and is discharged from the vagina. It is observed in just 20 – 30 % of women out of the total population. Implantation bleeding is usually observed 6 to 12 days after the conception and few days before the period. This may carry on for few minutes, hours or days but the time period of implantation bleeding will be less than the regular menstrual period.
