What is iMentor’s mission?
iMentor’s mission is to improve the lives of young people from underserved communities in New York City through innovative, technology-based approaches to youth mentoring and education. The challenge facing the mentoring community today is not how to make mentoring work, but rather how to scale mentoring programs to ensure that every young person who needs a mentor has a mentor. Currently, 17.6 million young people are considered high-need for mentoring in the U.S., yet only 2.5 million adults volunteer as mentors. This creates a national “mentoring gap” of more than 15 million young people still waiting for mentors. iMentor was created to address the mentoring gap.
