What is Idahos state tree, and where does it grow in Idaho?
Answer… The Idaho State tree is the western white pine (Pinus monticola); it reaches its greatest size and best commercial development in the Inland Empire, which includes the counties of the Idaho Panhandle and south, almost to the Salmon River. Within this region, white pine can be found growing along moist creek bottoms, lower benches, and northerly slopes. The most extensive stands of white pine are found in the Priest, Coeur d’Alene, St. Joe, and Clearwater River basins. Thanks for asking!
