ICD-10-PCS is the Procedure Classification System developed by CMS for use in the United States for hospital inpatient settings only. It will replace ICD-9-CM Volume 3 as the code set for reporting hospital inpatient procedures in HIPAA standard electronic transactions for dates of service on or after October 1, 2013.
