What is hypnotherapy and does it really work?
I am a certified hypnotherapist, so I guess my answer is a little biased. Hypnotherapy can certainly be very effective for anxiety. Hynotherapy takes many forms depending on the client’s needs. The simplest explanation of hypnosis is that it is a state of deep relaxation in which a client is more open to positive suggestions. A hynotherapist might relax you and then continually offer suggestions or affirmations on being relaxed,particularly in situations that might have provoked anxiety before. You might also be guided to a very serene location, eg, a beach, a forest, mountain, etc. In some cases, you might picture yourself living through an experience that may provoke anxiety. Yet now it is seen through the lens of calmness. As a general rule, anxiety is fear about the future, so you can be put into a relaxed state and project yourself into the future accomplishing your goal with confidence and ease.
