What is Hydroseeding?
HYDROSEEDING: \hi-dro-seeding\ (verb) The process of combining seed, mulch, fertilizer, and healthy soil amendments with water to mix in a HydroSeeder® tank to form a thick slurry. This slurry is applied with pressure to the surface for seed germination and turf development. Hydroseeding is the fastest, most cost effective and highest quality method of seeding lawn, landscape and erosion control practices. The hydroseeding slurry is applied with pressure via hose or tower onto the soil to create the ideal environment for seed germination and turf development. Grass should start to grow within 7 days, and the new lawn will be well established within 3-4 weeks.
Hydroseeding is a planting procedure that employs the use of hydraulic equipment to disperse a thick suspension, or slurry, of seeds, mulch, and water. The slurry is dispersed over the ground by use of a sprayer tank that is typically transported by truck or trailer to the location. For larger areas, helicopters or other small aircraft may be used to spread the mixture. Hydroseeding first appeared commercially in the United States in the early 1950s and quickly spread to the United Kingdom and other European nations. The process is now used worldwide due to its cost-effectiveness and probability of success. Hydroseeding has become a widely used alternative to the more traditional method of sowing dry seeds and then laying down mulch as a separate top layer. There are two major benefits to hydroseeding: rapid sprouting and growth of seeds, and the prevention of soil erosion. One of the most common applications of hydroseeding is the reclamation of burned land, such as in the aftermath o
It’s called several things such as hydroseeding, hydro-seeding or hydro-mulching but whatever you call it, it’s a process of applying seed, fertilizer and mulch in a water mixture to establish the germination of seed. You’ve probably seen a construction site or along a new stretch of highway where they’ve sprayed the ground with a green mixture and pretty quickly it starts growing. That’s hydroseeding and we use the same process to start fine lawns too but the primary difference is that we use a long fire hose and spray directly down at the applicators feet so we can have precise spray pattern control with almost no overspray. Using this method, we can spray a sharp line where you want your grass to start and stop.
