The core of the sun isn’t “burning.” All the energy of the sun comes from the core where nuclear fusion happens continuously. Nuclear fusion is the same process that happens in a hydrogen bomb. In a way the sun’s core is a hydrogen bomb about 250,000 miles in diameter that’s been “exploding” for the last 4.5-billion years. It will continue for at least another 3- to 3.5-billion years.
