What is Hydro-Excavation?
Hydro-Excavation is a highly efficient, non-destructive method of excavation that utilizes adjustable water pressure and an extremely powerful vacuum to simultaneously excavate and remove native soils and material at a controlled rate. The excavated material is vacuumed and stored in a truck-mounted debris tank, where it is neatly contained until ready for disposal. Using Hydro-Excavation, the task is faster, cleaner and much more precise than with conventional excavation or hand excavation methods. Because only a minimal amount of material needs to be removed, less money is spent on labor, materials and equipment for backfilling, restoration and haul-off. When using a backhoe to excavate around buried utilities, some operators try to get as close as possible and “feel” the line to save time on costly hand excavation.
