What is Huntingdon Beach in California like?
Huntington Beach is a seaside city in Orange County, population 190,000. It is known for its long 8.5 mile beach, mild climate, and excellent surfing. In summer, the southwest-facing beach often has very strong surf generally referred to as a “south swell”. The city grew up in the 50’s and 60’s when McDonnell- Douglas opened an aerospace factory in the area, which explains the housing. Recently, developers have been building along the coast by the pier, prompting some people to complain about the way things used to be. I rather miss the old look, but understand that is the way progress goes. If people are so concerned about preventing development, they should get off Yahoo Answers and run for city council instead. The beaches itself aren’t as pristine as they once were, partially due to popularity. That’s the price you pay for popularity.
