What is Humus Compost?

0

Humus is what organic matter ends up as after it has decomposed. Particles of humus are very small but have a relatively large surface area. Since they are negatively charged, they attract positively charged nutrients from the compost pile such as Calcium, Sodium, Magnesium, and Potassium. As the humus accumulates these nutrients it becomes a colloid. A colloid is a solid trapped in a liquid kind of like jelly.
