We have replaced less efficient bulbs with more efficient ones, added solar- powered water heaters to some houses, changed some diesel water heaters to “on demand” propane heaters, added skylights to some areas, installed solar-powered street lights, and installed solar-powered fans in various places. All of these programs will be expanded every year. All new construction will follow the principles of the United States Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) guidelines. These guidelines suggest ways to improve energy efficiency and protect the environment. Soon, we will build an energy lab that will be used by faculty members and students to explore alternative energy, energy efficiency, and other scientific projects.
