What is Hospices de Beaune?
The Hospices de Beaune wine auction is the most famous charity wine auction in the world and has taken place every year in November in Beaune, Burgundy since 1859. It has been organized by Christie’s since 2005. Open to private individuals as well as to trade, bidders have the opportunity to purchase new wine by the barrel. After the auction, the new wine is allowed to mature for 12 to 24 months before being bottled and distributed.
