What Is Horseshoeing?
Overview Horseshoeing is the process of maintaining a horse’s hooves. Horseshoeing can include merely trimming the horse’s feet or actually nailing a shoe onto the hoof. Purpose The purpose of horseshoeing is to keep the horse’s hooves from growing too long and to protect the hooves from the impact of the ground. Without regular trimming, a horse’s hooves can grow and curl over, causing injury and lameness. In addition, horse shoes help keep the hoof intact.
