What is home health care?
Just as the name implies, home health care is the ability to provide services in the patient’s home. Most experts agree that the home is the best environment for healing. Home health care is an excellent, cost-effective alternative to hospital or other institutional care. Service is based on the individual’s need as defined by his or her physician’s plan of care and may range from 24-hour-a-day care to monthly visits from skilled nurses, therapists, social workers and/or home health aides.
Home health care encompasses a broad spectrum of health and social services that are delivered in the home setting to persons who are disabled, chronically ill or recovering from an illness. These services include skilled nursing care and home care aide services as well as occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, and medical social services.
Home Health Care is skilled nursing care, therapy, and aide services provided in the comfort and privacy of your home for the treatment of an illness or injury. Care is delivered by RNs, LPNs, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists and aides, as needed. Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Administration and Private Insurance pays for needed services.
