HD is a digital format that combines high resolution video and digital sound for enhanced TV viewing. HD provides up to 10 times better picture quality than regular cable and true widescreen picture, using the 16:9 aspect ratio as opposed to 4:3. The sound format adopted for HD is Dolby Digital.
