What is Hennepin County Probation Services?
Hennepin County Community Corrections operates the largest local corrections system in the state. Each year, approximately 11,500 adults and juveniles are serving sentences in the Adult Corrections Facility, awaiting court disposition in the Juvenile Detention Center, or referred by the court to the County Home School, the county’s residential correctional treatment center for juveniles. But most offenders in Hennepin County aren’t in a correctional facility. Approximately 4,000 juveniles and 25,000 adults are on probation or parole, back in their home neighborhoods. In addition, there are approximately 300 juveniles in out-of-home placement and 700 who are truant. All are supervised by the county’s 83 juvenile and 205 adult probation officers. Read more…
