Absinthe is a spirit based on wormwood, anise, fennel and a number of additional herbs. It is not a liqueur in the proper sense as no sugar has been added. Helfrich absinthe is a distilled absinthe. It is not a filtered macerate and not an oil mix. De colour of the green variety is obtained by an after-treatment with herbs, a method known as “la coloration”.
