What is happening with the multiplexes?
Two of the seven multiplexes have already been set aside – one for a BBC national network and the other for independent national radio. The BBC is broadcasting services. Commercial radio has also been experimenting with DAB transmissions. NTL is now running a pilot multiplex in the London area with simulcasts of Kiss 100, 963 Liberty, Melody, Sunrise, Talk, Virgin and EKR. The other experimental commercial multiplex, run by Classic/GWR, includes Classic FM, Classic Gold, WRN, Heart, Capital and BBC s GLR. Both these multiplexes are operating under a Restricted Service Licence.
