What is happening with regard to Additional and Specialist Learning (ASL)?

A. The purpose of ASL is to help facilitate progression through the Diploma to further/higher education, apprenticeships and employment and offer learners the flexibility to personalise their programme of learning to better suit their needs. The DDP for Languages and International Communication is commissioning research to identify progression pathways and existing qualifications that will support these pathways. This research will also provide the basis for gap analysis and the identification of further new qualifications that may be needed. The report on ASL following this research will be available in mid-March 2009.
