What is happening to the opposition in Nigerias politics?
Nigeria’s opposition is where it is now because we are in a political transition. What I mean by this is that we are developing as a nation a political culture which will be suitable to the nation one day. What you see now is a form of ideological crisis among practitioners of politics in Nigeria. So the shift back and forth will continue for a while before some form of stability sets in where people will find their ‘political home’. You must also understand that these transitions are also affected by current Nigerian socio-economic structure – we are delusional in operating a capitalist economic model in a developing economy. This has a direct effect on the Nigerian population. So until we have such economic structure that guarantees welfare for our masses, movement will continue at all levels of politics.
