Construction workers have filled the site with about 25 feet of sterile (clean and chemically balanced) sand. The site has been covered with topsoil, grass has been planted, and an enclosed fence and sidewalk have been built around it. A prominent sign erected during 1993 offers a historic perspective and the dates when city and landmark status were bestowed to the site.
