What is happening at the former Cannery Site?
Four main things are happening: The Village, County and Bielinski have agreed that the Bug Line Trail should be moved to come straight across the property from west to east and link up with Waukesha Avenue and cross Main Street at a lighted intersection. We have seen a preliminary site plan that provides for a mixed-use residential and commercial development that is in line with the Village’s vision for that property. They have started the process of grinding up significant portions of the property in anticipation of future approvals and to get the site ready for development. They are seeking state and federal approvals on the site – time table: 18 months to the start of construction.
