What is GTM?
The GTM (Global Trade Mission) is designed to immerse high school students in an authentic business experience that reflects the processes of companies engaged in global trade. The event is similar to a day conference and is scheduled for two-and one-half days during school hours. Students and their supporting teachers attend from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on a Thursday and Friday, and from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday. At each event, approximately 200 students work in cross-district teams to respond to Trade Challenges developed in collaboration with area companies. Students prepare and present a business plan that responds to the realities of today’s flat world—incorporating research from Web-based pre-learning modules, Internet and business/industry resources gathered on-site, and face-to-face interaction with experts from business and trade.
