What is Growth and Recovery Work?
Your co-coordinator has received special education that enables him or her to help you with your growth and recovery. You have come to the Unit because you have identified that there are certain areas in your life that you are dissatisfied with and that you want to begin to make some positive changes. These changes will allow you to have a more successful and satisfactory life experience once you move back to the community. Although your co-coordinator is here to help you through the process, you need to be the one who works on the growth. Together, you will talk about what you are satisfied and dissatisfied with in your life – looking at where you live, work, learn and/or socialize. Some of the other things you will be taking part in include learning more about yourself and what your choices are, a review of your current skills, learning of new skills and figuring out what support (help) you will need when you are discharged from the Unit.
