GridSphere is an open source portal framework. Its API originally resembled that of IBM WebSphere, and it is now compliant with the Java Portlet Specification (JSR 168). Since Gridder complies with the JSR 168 standard, it is compatible with any portal framework that also supports it. In the development process, GridSphere was the portal framework of choice.
