What is Grange Co-op Twine Drive?
Throughout February 2008, all Grange Co-op locations will provide drop-off collection of plastic baling twine. The Twine Drive is a partnership between Grange Co-op, Rogue River High School-Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and the Jackson County SMART Business Program. RRHS Future Farmers of America (FFA) is also helping with the project. These groups have teamed up to provide an important service to southern Oregons farmers, ranchers and livestock growers. The polypropylene plastic used to bind bales of hay is recyclable, yet tons of twine is thrown away every year. Keeping it out of a landfill not only saves natural resources, it also saves money on garbage disposal costs.
