What is Graduate Programs looking for in the writing sample?
A. Ideally, the writing sample (5-10 pages) should be a recent academic paper which develops one focus to a logical conclusion and expresses ideas in clear and appropriate language. If you do not have a recent paper to submit, an older paper (no more than 5 years old) or an educational or work-related report is acceptable, or you may write a new paper on a subject of your choice. This writing sample remains the property of SFU.
