What is grade forgiveness and how do I file?
Students at UT Tyler who earn a “D” or “F” grade in a course have the option to repeat the course and file for grade forgiveness (grade replacement) up to three times during their undergraduate career. Upon completion of the repeated course with grade forgiveness used, the previous attempt of the course will be excluded from GPA calculation and only the most recent completion of the course will be included in the student’s GPA. To file for grade forgiveness, complete the Grade Replacement Contract which is available in the Office of the Registrar (ADM 221) or online at http://www.uttyler.edu/registrar/gradeforgiveness.htm. The form must be completed and returned to the Registrar’s Office on or before the Census Date. Census Date information can always be found in the Academic Calendar which is online at http://www.uttyler.edu/schedule/academiccalendar.htm Note: If a student repeats a course without filing for grade forgiveness, both attempts of the course will count toward their GPA.
