What is (Gothic) Lolita?
Lolita is a Japanese fashion which can be used for cosplay but also is taken extremely seriouse among the teens that are into it in Japan. Basically it is a subculture amongst Japanese youth that divides into SEVERAL different categories. The basics and general idea of Lolita are 19th century European style dresses that an aristocrat would generally be seen wearing during the Rococo period. Each style of Lolita has a certain twist to it. They are generally cute or elegant and “mysteriouse” type dresses that are worn at the Harajuku station or other events that would approprietly call for lolita. Many people have their own reasons for why the wear Lolita. Over all, it is an exciting, moderately new fashion in Japan and a lot of it is based origionally from Visual kei bands with members who have chosen to promote the style (ie Mana in MALICE MIZER).
