What is good about offensive comedy?
Many comedians feel like Dave Chapelle that racism is still vibrant and needs to be pointed out to make a difference. When these stereotypes are pointed out it often makes it easier to talk about. What makes comedy Hateful is the intent. You can look at comedy as mocking stereotypes and bring them to the light or you can try to make the argument that offensive comedy simply feeds on them. Offensive comedy does not perpetuate stereotypes if anything thing, it brings them to light so we may wonder if there is such a stereotype going on, and that is offensive comedys goodness.
