What is Glasgow/Strathclyde University like?
Both are good Universities but I would try and find out which one is stronger in your chosen field. I studied Engineering at Glasgow University and was also offered a place at Strathclyde. I chose Glasgow as I felt it had a stronger Engeering Department based on what I had seen during my visits to both institutions. The people at both Universities are great, you’ll still come acorss the usual morons at both, but generally everyone is sound. The night life at Glasgow is good, but Strathclyde does have the advantage of being right in the middle of the city and within easy access to many bars and clubs, although as a student you’ll find yourself drifting out to the West End anyway – so maybe Glasgow is the better choice then? I’ve had many great nights out in all the Union’s (Glasgow has two) bars and clubs. I think the best thing is spend half a day wandering around the campus of each Univeristy and try and get a feel for them and the people.
